Wonderful example of 3d type

Just came across this excellent application of corporate identity and the company’s field of work I photographed last October in Venice. The design is always work in progress as nature takes its time to corrode the letterforms.

All the best,
René

Bitter Sweet Irony

Dear all!

Shortly after getting started with the studio there was the first assignment coming in. It is a closing report for an Austrian Organisation. I was quite delighted but the joy working on the project gave way to the realisation that this wasn’t UNI.

The contact person is quite chaotic, the documents are not well structured and the photographs are a catastrophy. I totally forgot about that during my time in England. So at the moment I try to make the best out of the material I’ve got and try to get it finished as fast as possible.

But I already work on an idea for client acquisition which will be the next project. As I get up with Elisabeth and start in my studio at around 7.30 am this might be a unique selling proposition. I don’t know any graphic designers who are at work that early. Pictures of this project will find their way into the blog ...

Hope you are all well!
All the best,
René

Vienna is up and running …

Dear friends,
setting up the studio took a while but now I am ready to go. There are some small things missing so you will have to wait for the pix a little longer.
Meanwhile I also continued to train my motion graphics skills and I thought to post one of the completed tutorials because the animation fitted our blog title nicley. I am missing the talk with all of you. Enjoy the video.

All the best from Vienna, René

PS: The tutorial is from www.videocopilot.net

Flow

Thanks to everyone who came to the final closing night of Flow. 100 plus people turned up to celebrate the end of the show. Some time lapse video of the show will be posted soon, but here are some comments from the visitor book:

'Great space and atmosphere'

'Fantastic space. The work compliments one another. Great job'

'Lovely to see the fruition of all your work in this fantastic space - congratulations'

'Interesting to see motion picture film pulled/pushed/streached in directions that not many have thought of before. - Great catering too'

'It's the Maidstone Tate Modern in the making!! Fabulous space - great potential, look forward to the future'

'Great. Long live UCA Maidtone we will sort out the Surrey mafia! Maidstone, your MA students did you proud. Thanks'

There were lots more comments about the how amazing the space was, so thanks to Louise and Laura of FrancisKnight and Dave Manning of the Powerbub Business Centre for letting us use the space.

Expanded Cinema - BFI Southbank 6th December

This event looks absolutely amazing ;

"Expanded Cinema is a transitory and unpredictable art form. The live act of projection activates the space in front of the screen and explodes the relationship between the audience and the film. This AHRC Central Saint Martins-supported day of screenings, performances and talks will illuminate the history of Expanded Cinema and explore the tensions between the live event and its record. Performers and speakers will include William Raban, Malcolm Le Grice, Guy Sherwin, Maxa Zoller and Duncan White."

There's also a showing of Michael Snow's Triage and a Casing Shelved at 8.30pm

Book now!! if it's not too late.

Big Brother (and Sister, for Cathy's benefit) is now watching you...

Ok, so following on from a discussion with Comrades Rogers and de Vere earlier today, I have added a stat reporter to the site. The button is right at the bottom of this page (I removed the code for the one we added earlier Cathy). It's a SiteMeter, I can forward one and all login details and what not, however I think you can just click it and see the majority, if not all relevant stats. It isn't blocking any visits right now, so it is tracking all our visits as well of those of random folk lucky/unlucky enough to have stumbled across this blog by accident.

We can remove the count from the button, so it is just the SiteMeter logo, or whatever, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.

Anyway, I have some more HTML geekdom to get involved with.

As always, much love and kisses,

Sean

P.S. I promise I will post something more artistic and interesting at some point.

Founders book (?)

Images by George Chiotis

The more I have been thinking abut it the more I feel that a small companion would be a nice addition to my project. A collection of stories and images of this land that would accompany the visual experience I'm trying to make placed in a way that wouldn't impose it self.
